From small acorns mighty oaks do grow. He wasn’t the tallest of men, and he certainly wasn’t the loudest, but his legacy was mighty and his achievements spoke volumes. He leaves a large family spread like the branches of an oak tree, but more importantly he has been its pillar and its root, always there to support and re-affirm family ties.
He was a quiet, unassuming man who just got on with what needed to be done – he would be astounded if you called him brave, determined, dignified and compassionate. Yet throughout his life he made difficult decisions for the benefit of his family. At a young age he had already made a successful life for himself in Jamaica, raised a family and could have seen out his time in comfort. However he took the challenge to go to America to give his family a better life. He had to start from the bottom and work his way upwards. He never self-promoted himself, whether at work, with family, with friends – he just did things well and became indispensable to those around him. Matt and Josh are intensely proud of their heritage and that is in no small part due to his unassuming dignity and the care he enfolded his family. He didn’t expect to be given anything in life but felt honoured to be able to give.
He didn’t like flying but that never stopped him from travelling. He was a son of tropical Jamaica but loved the winter cold of America. He appreciated and took delight in food whether a burger or a haute cuisine five course meal. On his numerous travels he was as equally fascinated by magnificent vistas and unique buildings as a cantankerous ancient plumbing system in a Paris hotel. He would sit quietly reading through the papers but he could just as easily burst into song, always ready to join in a dance. His was a life full-lived. Above all he was always chilled.
We will miss him. Jay, James, Matt, Josh, Caoimhe, Tia, Nyla (Petersons UK)

There is so much to say about my papa. There is no language powerful enough to begin expressing how respected, loved and treasured he was. He shared heaps of wisdom, but used few words. Those words could resonate through the bones and inspire, influence or guide you in all the right ways. Although he was a quiet man, he would sing whilst bopping around the house, reading the paper, looking through photo albums, checking the mail, or pilfering a snack. There always seemed to be a tune playing in his head! I recall days when I was little, being dropped off at my grandparents house after school, and he always had a pack of gummy dinosaurs ready for me so I had enough energy to play hide and seek around the house with him. He'd even hide and make funny noises when I found him! Then I watched cartoons and waited to be picked up, but not before having some of mema's good home cooking! He worked at the skating rink in town and I was the little boy who could get free arcade tokens and admission to the ice for myself and friends. I would run in "Hi papa! Can I please have some tokens!?" He would pull out a little blue plastic container full of tokens, that glowed like pirates treasure, and I would slam my hand as deep as I could to grab a bountiful handful and run off. Papa would later get me a job at the same place and I would be there every day working an earshot away from him. Fast forward, and throughout my life, papa was always so integral in helping me keep my life on track. Whether it be advice on my finances, work, taxes, the future, or anything one could think of, papa could say very little to enlighten. I could go on forever, but papa was such a legend in this family. His legacy will live on for generations. His story, his wisdom and his bloodline will be carried on forever, as he was so beloved to all who encountered him. I will miss you more than words can describe papa. I love you! Rest in peace.

Ray, Gary, Mrs. Lee Chee, and the extended Lee Chee clan, we are so sorry for the loss of your Dad, Husband, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle, Friend, and Colleague. He was a quiet giant, whose influence and love for the people lucky enough to know him extended far beyond his physical presence. His legacy, his family will carry on, as he taught them to. God bless you all.
