I’m so sad to hear the passing of Dr. Ego. I was just thinking about him and googled to see if he was still in Stamford and I saw this obituary. He was an amazing professor and made my life at UConn so much easier as a young mom trying to get my degree. I took his Asian studies class first and took my writing class I needed to graduate. He also gave me a great recommendation letter to graduate school. He was honestly one of the best professors I’ve ever had.

I am so saddened to read that Dr. Ego passed. I was just with my family talking about great college professors when I googled and saw his obituary. I had Dr. Ego at UCONN Stamford for one class but the impact he had has stayed with me. He was friendly, energetic, and wanted his students to succeed. He was one of my favorite professors at UCONN. I took his Baseball and Society class; on the first day, he wanted to make sure everyone had a basic understanding of the game, so he brought us to a corridor in the academic building and we spent the rest of the class playing ball - a memory I’ll never forget. My condolences go out to his family. He was a wonderful person.

I am so so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Michael Ego. Mike was instrumental in my pursuit of higher education as a first generation college student. He gave me the confidence and inspiration to “reach for the stars”. He made me believe that I can be anything I wanted to be and made it possible for me to flex my work responsibilities with school and family obligations. He was a very caring and compassionate person and will be missed. Sending my deepest condolences to Kathleen, Allyssa, Hillary, Stephanie and Forrest. I can only imagine how difficult this is for you all. I will pray for your peace and contentment. Sorrowfully, Natalie Harding

I was so sorry to hear of Michael's passing. He was a very kind and thoughtful person. He hired me while he was Dean of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts at San Jose State University. I remember having conversations with him about moving to Connecticut but it was a great opportunity for him as much as I did not want to see him leave CASA. He was a great Dean of CASA and helped so many faculty.

I was so sorry to learn of Michael's passing. He served as a great Dean of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts at San Jose State University. I was a Department Chair of Nutrition, Food Science and Packaging and appreciated his leadership, fairness, and teamwork utilized in problem solving issues amongst the Chairs. Michael always was sympathetic in listening to everyone's perspectives. He always seemed so healthy and fit so I was very surprised to hear of his unexpected passing. Appreciated seeing him a few years ago at Ray Tseng's memorial in San Jose, and was impressed that he travelled across the country to support Rose Tseng and others in their grief. Michael will truly be missed.

I am so sorry to learn of Michael's passing. I truly enjoyed knowing and working with Michael. He was generative, kind, and, always, supportive. I hope, through this simple note that I am able to help you, in some very small way, manage the pain that I know you all are experiencing.

As Michael's colleague in the Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) department at UConn, I'm devastated by the news of his passing. He was so passionate about his family, his community, and his work. Michael was always kind, empathic, and optimistic. I enjoyed ALL of my interactions with him. He always cared deeply about getting everything "right." Over the past year, I think I must have commented on drafts of about a dozen published or potential Op-Eds drafted by Michael, all with the intent of getting research out to the "real world" or commenting on the human condition. Michael did good work and did good. I will miss him.
