What a marvelous life that Aunt Renee lived. She was far and away, Carol’s favorite aunt and Carol always spoke lovingly of her Brooklyn summers as a teenager. Among the many reasons that we loved Renee so much was not just her honest wit, her humor or her sound and confidently delivered advice, but it was the memories of Uncle Sam and Aunt Renee as a couple. They were adorable and a model for all. Their tolerance and unconditional support for one another was a delight. I remember them visiting us twice in Virginia and once staying at our PA cottage and playing canasta on the porch. Their love for one another has left a wonderful legacy in the form of their devoted and loving daughters.
