Obituary of Marjorie Dwyer

Marjorie Sacoff Dwyer of Estero, FL—devoted wife, caring mother, and loving grandmother—passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021 in Stamford, CT. She was 83.

Marjorie was born on September 15, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Staten Island, NY. She earned an education degree from American University in Washington, DC and dedicated her early career to serving children as a school teacher. Marjorie supported the lifelong dream of her beloved husband of 42 years, Robert Dwyer, when they purchased a pair of radio stations and moved from Purchase, NY to Fort Myers, FL. Her vibrant personality helped her excel at selling radio advertising to local business owners.

Marjorie’s impeccable fashion sense always stood out in a room with her colorful leggings and leopard prints. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining guests, and shared her family holiday recipes with a local chef so they could be enjoyed by hundreds of her community members.

Marjorie shared her love for travel with Bob as they visited 35 countries together. Leading two bocce teams, golfing, playing canasta, and mahjong kept Marjorie active and engaged with friends. Her generous spirit was on display in later years as she volunteered at a local elementary school.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Cindy (David) Pitkoff and Jeffrey (Deborah) Cohen; her brother, Ronald (Joanne) Sacoff; step-children, Cathy (David) Hagar, Michael Dwyer, Suzy Jo Dwyer, and Scott (Yen) Dwyer; grandchildren, Joshua (Ada), Danielle, Andrew, Peter, and Gray; step-grandchildren, Zoey, Max, and Jack. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dwyer and her parents, Isabelle and Nathan Sacoff.

A private graveside service will be held for the family at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ.
