Obituary of Ilya Molodetsky

Ilya Gregory Molodetsky
July 29, 1929 - June 11, 2021

Ilya Gregory Molodetsky, Son of Gregory Molodetsky and Maria Lipson, passed peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Friday June 11, after valiant battle with long illness, surrounded by his Family and Friends.

From formative age he cherished family values and traditions. As a young man helping his family escape the threat of Pogroms and Nazi Concentration Camps.  As a young man, he enlisted in Red Army Artillery- and honorably discharged a Lieutenant commander of his Tank Division.  He graduated salutatorian from the Odessa Polytechnic Institute and married Olga Molchadsky, the only female Electrical Engineering School graduate in 1958.
His talent found appreciation by the Odessa Institute of Nutritional Automation where he ultimately headed  Research and Development after attaining his PhD in Electrical Engineering.  He held numerous patents in process development automation of the food industry. He was fluent in Ukrainian an German languages, loved Art, Poetry and Music, and enjoyed Nature and Gardening in spare time at his small Odessa "dacha".

Ilya emigrated to United States on June 12 1979, seeking freedom of life expression.  His following journey was filled with love and respect for Tradition, Culture and Friends.  He selflessly shared his good fortune to live and work free.  He made friends wherever he went.  Whether working with Russian newcomers to the community, helping to establish themselves, helping friends in daily life, freelancing for Special Olympics, or anywhere he was needed, he left his mark in each, however brief relationships with spark of happiness and spiritual fullness in daily life.

Truly, William Shakespeare in his poetic quote, could not more aptly describe Ilya's  journey:
                    "Life every man holds dear;
                      But the dear man holds honor far more precious dear than life".

Ilya is preceded in passage by his parents, sister Anna Kulgevich and nephews Alexander and George, and grand-nephew Michael.
His legacy is carried on by his daughter Nina and her family as well as Ilya's grand-nephew, Edward together with his mother Sofia, wife Jacklyn and their children.   A private Interment was held.  Shiva will be held at the family’s home in Stamford on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 1-6 PM and Tuesday 11 am-1 pm.    On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Shiva will be held at the families home in Vernon, CT .  On  Wednesday and Thursday 1-3 Pm and 6-8 pm.  On Friday Shiva will be 1-4 pm.
