Deacon Richard F. Saymon Sr.

July 23, 1933 - May 29, 2021

The Lord called Deacon Richard F. Saymon Sr. home on May 29, 2021 where he died peacefully in his sleep.

He was predeceased by his adored wife of 60 years Marie Langellotti Saymon, son Richard F. Saymon Jr., parents George and Ruth Saymon Sr., brother George Saymon Jr. in-laws John and Frances Langellotti and sister-in-law Catherine Vigilante.

Richard retired from the Norwalk Police Department as Detective and also from the State of Connecticut where he was a Plumbing Department Head at Henry Abbott and J.M. Wright Technical High Schools.  He also served two years in the US Army Engineers and rose to the rank of Corporal.  

Richard was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church in 1981 by Bishop Walter Curtis in the first Permanent Deaconate class in the diocese and spent his entire ministry at St. Matthew Church in Norwalk.

He is survived by his son Robert (Laurie) and daughters Donna Saymon and Barbara Goss (Danny), grand children Richard F. Saymon III who was his long time caregiver (Chauncey), Jacqueline Hilder, Matthew Saymon, Jenna Lombard (Damian), Michael Saymon, Jennifer (Andrew) Dvorak, Lindsey Korthoff, Herbie Korthoff (Madison) and great grandchildren Richard F. Saymon IV, Mila Lombard, Owen Dvorak, Olivia Dvorak, Emery Dvorak, brother-in-law John Vigilante, sister-in-law’s Ida Saymon, Shirley Saymon as well as many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 3,2021 at 10 AM in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.  No calling hours will be held.
