Obituary of Morton Harvey` Walker

Former long-time Stamford resident Dr. Morton Walker passed away recently at his retirement residence in Boynton Beach, Florida at the age of 85. He is best known as a prolific author of books which popularized natural medical cures with titles such as, "The Miracle Healing Power of Chelation Therapy," "DMSO Nature's Healer," "Nutrients to Age Without Senility," "Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy," "The Gerson Therapy" and many others. Dr. Walker's journalism career spanned 40 years beginning with his first book, "Your Guide to Foot Health," published in 1964 while still running a thriving podiatry practice located on Summer Street, his profession prior to becoming a full-time medical journalist. To medical practitioners Dr. Morton Walker is best known for his regular monthly column called, "Medical Journalist Report of Innovative Biologics," in the Townsend Letter, a medical journal about alternative medicine. Dr. Walker gave a voice to all the innovative physicians and entrepreneurs who advocated and acted on their theories that the human body can enhance its inherent healing mechanisms with the addition of natural substances. He started his writing career at a time when alternative medicine was under attack from all sides by conventional physicians and government regulators. Thanks to Dr. Morton Walker the new medical science of "integrative medicine" has a bright future. Dr. Walker is survived by his son Dr. Mark Walker, a prominent cosmetic surgeon in Binghamton, New York, and his sons Randall and Jules, and his seven grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM (TODAY) October 28, 2014 at Agudath Sholom Cemetery in Stamford next to his beloved wife Joan Walker.
