Obituary of Lillian Buchan

Lillian (Lee) Buchan passed away on October 20, 2014 in Stamford, Connecticut at the age of 96. She was born on August 18, 1918 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Lillian was a longtime Stamford resident and worked at Westhill High School in the Guidance Office for 23 years before retiring in 1995. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be dearly missed and live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. During her life, Lillian enjoyed reading the newspaper to keep up with local and world affairs, traveling, caring for her family, spending time outdoors, and listening to music. Lillian is survived by her daughters Jane McDonnell of Aliso Viejo, CA and Gale Tarzia of Stamford, CT, son-in-law Tim McDonnell, grandchildren Michael McDonnell, Eric McDonnell, and Taylor Tarzia. She is also survived by her brother John Maul of Darien, sister Anne Gagliardi of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Buchan, and her siblings Karl Weber, Margaret McDonald, and Lawrence Maul. Visiting hours will be held at the Shippan's Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford on Friday, October 24th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a brief funeral service at 1 Pm. Burial will follow at the Fairfield Memorial Park cemetery in Stamford at 2:00 pm.
