Obituary of Carmine Forte
Carmine Forte, 80, of Stamford, CT, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, following a difficult, courageous battle with Cancer. He was born on June 23, 1940, in Rose di Cosenza, Calabria, Italy to the late Agostino and Michelina Guarnieri Forte.
He emigrated to the United States in 1966 with his wife Emilia, in pursuit of their American dream. Together, they raised a family and built a life and business together. He was employed as a machinist for Consolidated Diesel for many years, followed by employment by the Diocese of Bridgeport until his retirement. Once retired, Carmine was a “fixture” at his wife Emilia’s deli. He could be found sitting at his favorite table under the clock, keeping a watchful eye, ensuring everything was running smoothly. Always the conversationalist, he enjoyed chatting with family, friends, regulars and new customers alike.
Carmine’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Leo, going to the park and getting ice cream from the ice cream truck together.
Carmine was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Emilia Iuele Forte. He is survived by his loving children, Antonio Forte and his wife Nancy, and their son David Gebhardt, and Maria DeMott and her husband Benjamin, and their son, Leo, all of Stamford. Also surviving are his brothers, Mario Forte of Morelia, Mexico and Antonio Forte of Rome, Italy, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the United States, Italy, Canada and Australia. In addition to his parents and wife, Carmine was predeceased by his brother, Luigi Forte.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Greenwich, CT. There will be no calling hours.
A public mass, jointly celebrating the lives of Carmine and Emilia Forte will be celebrated on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT.
