Obituary of Kathleen C Ruben
Kathleen Clementine Gentilcore Ruben, 73, of Stamford Connecticut, died on February 10th, 2021. Kathy was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, the daughter of Lee Gentilcore and Catherine (Kitty) Gentilcore, ne Eldredge on December 1, 1947. Kathy married her husband, Tom Ruben in 1980 and will be dearly missed by him, her two beloved children and their spouses, Julia Weissman (David Weissman) and Neil Ruben (Hilana Lewkowitz-Shpuntoff) as well as grandchildren Benjamin, Jonah and Elisheva. She is also survived by her mother Catherine, her siblings Marlene Gentilcore, Lee Gentilcore and Mary Kaczeroski (Ted Kaczeroski) s well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathy received her Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Penn State University and her Ph.D. in the Foundations of Education from Pittsburgh University. Through a professional career that was curtailed by her health challenges, Kathy taught a variety of disciplines to students who ranged in age from toddlers to graduate students at a university level. She was described as those taught by her as a committed and inspiring teacher. Her capacity to interact with children was pied piper like. She also cared deeply about social and economic justice and focused her energies upon issues related to gender equality and the rights of vulnerable women. Kathy was known for her compassion, determination, and creativity and for making the most out of life.
Funeral Services were private, and Kathy is interred in the Fairfield Cemetery in Stamford. Those wishing to make a contribution can make a donation to the domestic violence organization of their choice.
