Dear Gert, Jody and Family,
I cry for the loss of Marv, a man I had the honor to work for and with over the last 50 years. What an incredible human being and talent. An inspiration to this day and a friend forever. The admiration I have for Marv cannot be exceeded. He strong, smart, humble, tough, inspiring, fearless, supportive, loyal, honest, curious, immensely hard working and able to stay current in a world of constant change. Most of all though he was about family and friends. He changed peoples’ lives for the better and protected those he loved.
May he live in Heaven, Gan Eden, and May the family only know good things from this day forth.
With deepest respect and sorrow.
David and Sonia Salzman

Marv was wonderful person and exceptional friend. From the time he hired me 50 years ago at Westinghouse Broadcasting Company to his last days, I treasured our friendship. Marv's business acumen was unsurpassed. He was a mentor, advisor and friend. He opened doors and provided insights. He was always willing to discuss a business issue, sharing his wealth of knowledge. Equally, he was always interested to know about family, the latest happenings of kids and grandkids. He always spoke lovingly about his family. Marv is a thread in my life woven into our years of relationship - remaining even after his passing. Marv's name said it all, he was marvelous.
My prayers and condolences to Gert, Barbara, Susan and Jody and the whole Shapiro family.

This incredible man taught me so much. I worked for him at two TV stations for a happy decade, and just watching his intuitive feel for whether a business was on track or wandering into the wilderness was an education all by itself. Mentor, wise counselor, friend. I am a big brother to a younger brother, but never had a big brother myself. Until Marv.

Dear Gert,
My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I was just thinking about the two of you the other day. Remembering how we used to exchange Holiday cards. I hope you can find some comfort and peace with your family. Marv had quite the remarkable life.
Love,
Eileen McMahon (VSS)
