You both have been on my mind lately: So many fond memories of long ago. My Parents John and Anne Parkhurst cherished your friendship and I could not have gotten through the last weeks of my Father's illness without you. You always were kind, reassuring, and fun to be around. So glad you were my Parents dear friends and considered close enough to be an Uncle to us when we were young. My Condolences to Elsie, Liz, Ellen, Paul, and Dan and family...

Beaver Hayes was a true gentleman...we were friends for almost 75 years...from middle school on. ...we played a lot of baseball in the late 1940's...sometimes as team mates and other times as opposition...just had lots of fun with guys like "Punk" Cameron, 'Curly" Crowley, Dick Nixon and many more...Beaver always got the guys together....for a Christmas party and a summer celebration...exchanging stories about the "good old days"....he will be very much missed..I salute you my friend...Re and Peter Telep

Condolences to Elsie, Liz, Ellen, Paul, Danny and the rest of your families. I have so many fond memories of Beaver from when he was one of my big cousins who enjoyed my father's Italian cooking to later in life when we would visit each other with our families. Always loved the sing-alongs. Beaver also had a wonderful sense of humor. One quip I always remember was when Elsie and I were playing ping pong and he said "You two are so good I can hardly read the brand of the ball it's going so fast!" Rest in peace dear cousin.

I have many pleasant memories of family gatherings with Beaver and the Irish side of my family. When the Hayeses came for dinner, it was not corned beef and cabbage, but my father’s multi-coursed Italian macaroni and meatball dinners that they loved so much. Uncle Paul and my father, Joe, would talk over WWl army stories. I remember a fun weekend at their summer home in Falmouth, where Elsie showed us she could cook as good an Italian meal as my dad. Beaver serenaded us with Paddy McGinty’s goat, followed by a rousing rendition by everybody of Hey Cumpari. Great fun! Beaver was my wife Barbara’s boss at Pitney Bowes. We also played many times together in the annual SNBC golf tournament. Our thoughts and prayers are with Elsie and the family. May his soul rest in peace.

I knew Beaver before he was Beaver. We grew in the Cold Spring Road/Windsor Road neighborhood, just below the Bridge. On one side of Cold Spring was a vacant lot which was regularly set on fire by one of us. And in that lot we played baseball, and cowboys and Indians. Red White was Red Ryder, and Eugene was Little Beaver. And that's why he became Beaver Hayes. I knew all the Hayes family, including Paul the father, Paul, Bill, Theresa and Jimmy, who was my age. When I visit my sister, Moe, in Stamford we will still drive around Windsor Road and up Cold Spring, naming the people who once lived in the houses we drive by. We get them all, sometimes with assistance of the 1940 census. Until a few years ago I'd see Beaver and Elsie at Moe's Christmas party. He was a happy guy. May he rest in peace. I'm adding two photos from way back in the day and one from 2008. One shows me, Dan Fitzmaurice and Moe on the bridge. The next shows me and Jimmy Hayes on the Brown Brothers truck with two others I can't identify. The third one you will know - Beaver and Moe.
