Greetings to the mourners
With the death of our aunt, Erna Brushaber, the last family member of our mother's generation, Erna's sister, passed away on March 2 this year.
Aunt Erna often had a hard time in life because of war, expulsion and flight, but nevertheless she took life confidently into her own hands.
With her husband, our uncle Hugo, she emigrated to America when we were children.
Her mother, 2 brothers and her sister stayed in Germany.
But the contact between them remained, by mail and by occasional visits to Germany.
The visits of Erna, Hugo and their son Ronald to Germany became big family celebrations for us children with coffee, chocolate and chewing gum from America, plus Erna's fantastic cooking.
We had a lot of fun and joy together and remember the three of them as a happy family.
After Hugo's death, the visits did not take place and our contact was continued with many letters and telephone calls.
Even after the death of Erna's mother, brothers and our mother, Erna's sister, the contact did not break off.
On the phone there was always something to tell about the dog Cooper, Ronnie's work and about the trips they made together.
Erna often told us that she had such a lovely neighbourhood and friendships that she was very happy and enjoyed life.
We would therefore like to thank all those present who have accompanied Erna and also Ronald so lovingly through their lives.
Our thanks also go to Mrs. Barbara Miles, Hugo's granddaughter from England, who gave Aunt Erna a few more beautiful days at the end of her life by her visit.
Eva Weissinger-Serra (Erna's niece) and Wolf-Peter Weissinger (Erna's nephew)

Dear Grandma, you will be dearly missed. You have been one of the most selfless, humble, caring and generous people I have ever known. Always making us feel welcome and loved. We only met every few years, but when we did it was so very special. Thank you for so many wonderful memories. Love, Barbara
