Obituary of Willam W. Evans

William Wiley Evans "Skip" died at his home in Stamford, Connecticut on September 24, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, New York, August 29, 1926, his parents were William W Evans Sr. and Viola R Evans. He spent his formative years in Bronxville, NY and met his sweetheart Ann Cunningham there. His loving wife Ann C. Evans preceded him in October 2005. William joined the US Navy following Pearl Harbor and served with distinction in Submarine Service. Following the Service, he studied Forestry at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and completed a degree in Business Administration at New York University. He continued his pursuit of higher education at Fordham University where he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence. William was employed by American Standard and Carborundum Company as a Senior Executive for Marketing and Sales, which gave him and his family the opportunity to live in France, Lewiston, NY, Alexandria, VA, and Darien, Connecticut. During his later years, he resided in Greenwich and Stamford, Connecticut. He is survived by four children – William W Evans III of Mount Pleasant, SC, Robert L Evans of Stamford, CT, David D Evans of Norwalk, CT and Richard R Evans of Seymour, CT. He was a proud Grandfather to Wiley, John, Tom, Ber, Sam, and Victoria, as well as a proud Great Grandfather to Reid, Hadley and Annabelle. He will be forever remembered in our hearts and missed for his great sense of humor. His passions for sailing and reading are shared by his family. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 at 10:30 at Union Memorial Church, 58 Church Street, Stamford, CT.
