Obituary of Liney Maud Reid

Liney Maud Reid, 89, passed away peacefully July 8, 2019.  She was born June 28, 1930 in Hanover, Jamaica and was the eldest daughter of the last Isaac Malcolm and Janet Haughton.  She was one of twelve children and was the eldest daughter. As first daughter she had to take charge and helped to care for her younger siblings in her fun-loving way.

Mrs. Reid, as she is known by her many friends, migrated to the United States in 1981.  She worked as a companion to the elderly for over thirty years - as she truly enjoyed caring for others.  After her retirement, her favorite times were spent with family and friends. She was fun and brought great joy to all those that were fortunate enough to be around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Almeda Burrell of Maryland 2 grandchildren, Andrew Burrell of Jamaica and Dianne Burrell of Maryland; 1 great-grandchild, Nandre Burrell of New Jersey; 3 bothers Stainton Malcolm and Hugh Williams both of Florida, Amaziah Wallace of Buffalo, NY and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed, but the memories and moments with her are ones that will remain forever.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m. -11:00 a.m. followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Assembly of God, located at 2 Scofieldtown Rd., Stamford, with Rev. Scott Giordano affiliating.  Interment will follow at Roxbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Bethany Assembly of God in Memory of Liney Reid.
