Obituary of Avril Felix McGregor

On April 12, 1980 in Bronx, NY, Morgan & Mavdalin Felix were blessed with their baby girl Avril, known as "Kim" to her family. As a child Kim loved to watch cartoons, travel with her father and wrestle with her brother Stanley. As a teen she attended A. Philip Randolph High school from 1994-1998. While there she formed numerous life-long friendships, loved to step for the school step-team and from time to time she got in trouble for talking in class. However above all she was a driven and diligent student. After graduation she accepted a full academic scholarship to Northeastern University in Boston, MA and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management Information Systems. While at Northeastern she was beloved by her peers, faculty and mentors who developed a fondness for her kind hearted free spirit, unmistakable laugh and bold straight talk. During these years Avril met Rohan, her partner of 15 years. He was the love of her life and she went onto marry him in June 2009. They were soul-mates and their union was one of true and unconditional love. Avril continued on to receive her MBA in Marketing and Management from Fairfield University in 2010 and received her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification in 2011. Crowning her exceptional scholastic journey she amassed numerous academic achievements, honors and awards. The Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges (2002), The National Dean's List (2002), Golden Key International Honor Society (2003), Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society (2003 & 2010), The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (2003) and The Financial Management Association National Honor Society (2003). She worked in various industries using her Finance and Marketing background before bringing her talents to consulting at Legg Mason Global Asset Management as a Project Manager in the Global Information & Business Solutions Group. Outside of work and school Avril loved to talk, laugh, travel and dance. She enjoyed listening to R&B, soca, calypso and reggae music. Some of her favorite moments were hanging out with family and friends, planning events, decorating her home, shopping, eating and cooking Caribbean foods and attending church. Most of all she enjoyed being around people, making them laugh was her greatest gift.
