Obituary of Alan B. Siegel

Alan B. Siegel, 68, of Stamford passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

He was born in the Bronx, New York to the late Ruth and Louis Siegel. He graduated from Bronx HS of Science, Hunter College (BS) and the University of Bridgeport (MS). At the time of his death he was retired. Alan was #1 in the Vietnam War Selective Service draft lottery of 1969 and served in the US Army National Guard, based at the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx.

He Is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, the former Shirley Rothman, his daughter and son-in-law, Elena and Steve Mandell of NYC and the one person who motivated him during his most difficult days, his grand-daughter Layla, whose voice sounded like music to him. Other survivors include his brother Rick of Chicago and his in-laws: Gayle and Howard Rothman of Stamford: Joan and Herb Blank of Manchester and Sheldon Rothman. He is also survived by his nieces, Rachel Sackman (Michael), Hillary Rothman, Stephanie Hanko and Sherri Weber (Ron), his nephews, Michael Rothman and Eric Siegel and his pet cat, Ike.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Norwich Hebrew Benevolent Association Cemetery #2 located at 38 Route 12, Preston, CT 06365.

Shiva will be held at the home of Gayle and Howard Rothman: 23 River Oaks Drive, Stamford, CT 06902 on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

His family extends their deepest gratitude to Lucille Jones and Constellation Hospice (Doreen and Mitzi), who provided outstanding nursing care and emotional support during each chapter of this journey.
