Obituary of Shirley R Sherwood

Shirley R. Sherwood died at Stamford Hospital on September 17, 2018 of heart failure. She was 87. Mrs. Sherwood was born on September 25, 1930 in St. Louis MO to Charles and Bonnie Raymer. She graduated Stamford High School Class of 1948 and was employed at Pitney-Bowes for 14 years in the Sales Records department. Mrs. Sherwood was predeceased by her first husband, Albert F. Cooke Sr., and second husband Clarence "Sonny" Sherwood, both of whom worked at Pitney-Bowes. She was also predeceased by her twin brother Charles "Buddy" Raymer of Kissimmee, FL. She is survived by her son, Albert F. Cooke Jr. and his wife Connie of Norwalk, a granddaughter, Sarah Cooke, of Windermere, FL, a grandson, Devin Cooke of Norwalk, and a stepson, Lee Sherwood of Stamford. She greatly enjoyed time spent with her family and her favorite pastime in her later years was watching "Dancing With The Stars" which gave her much joy. She also did some modeling in her late teens. Her family would like to make mention of the fine care she received from Dr. Chen and the staff at Stamford Hospital during the last week of her life. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, ( next to the Knights of Columbus) 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford CT. 06902 (203)-359-9999. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Sherwoods' life.
