Obituary of Catherine J. Walsh

Catherine J. Walsh, 83, of Stamford CT passed away peacefully on August 28, 2018. She was born in New York City August 2, 1935 to John and Jane (Conway) Garrett. Catherine was a longtime resident of Stamford. For many years she worked at GE Capital at as a legal secretary. She embraced her Irish heritage and was a former State President of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. She was selected as the first Grand Marshal of the Stamford Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in 1996. Catherine was an avid gardener and loved to entertain and be surrounded by family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband John Joseph Walsh, and her loving daughter Donna Marie Lockwood, and her sister Rose McConnell.

She is survived by her son Patrick Walsh and his wife Lauren (Vaughan), her son Brian and his wife Kerry (Troy), her daughter Janet Walsh, and her son Kevin Walsh and his wife Marie (Maher), and her niece Rose (McConnell) Vaccaro and her husband Tom Vaccaro, and her niece Ellen (McConnell) Lupinacci and her husband Ron Lupinacci, and her niece Kathleen McConnell.  She is also survived by 16 adored grandchildren.

Catherine was grateful to and fond of the dedicated nurses and staff members of The Nathaniel Witherell Skilled Nursing Center who gave her attentive care and friendship in her last years.  The calling hours will be held on Thursday (TODAY), August 30, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home 453 Shippan Ave Stamford, CT (203)-359-9999.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 31, 2018 at The Church of Holy Spirit Church 403 Scofieldtown Rd Stamford, CT. Interment to follow at St John Cemetery, Darien, CT.
