Obituary of Vilma M Mendez

A much-loved daughter, sister, and aunt, Vilma M. Mendez, of Stamford, Connecticut passed away on August 10, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital, with her family present, from her brave and lifelong battle with liver disease.

> She was born on September 28, 1968 in Stamford, Connecticut and resided in the town of Stamford for the entirety of her life. She attended Stamford High School and graduated with her diploma in 1986.

 Vilma was a headstrong woman who deeply loved her family with all of her heart. She shared that deep love and affection for animals, especially cats, and always enjoyed being surrounded by her family at gatherings and during the holidays. Her laughter and spirit will be deeply missed by those closest to her.

 She is survived by her mother, Milagros DeJesus; father, Jose Mendez Sr.; stepfather Fernando Valentin, brother Jose Mendez Jr.; sister Jacqueline Mendez; brother Gilbert Mendez; stepsister Ashley Ortiz; nieces Amanda, Keesha, Lucinda, and Tania; nephews Jose III, Gilbert Jr, and Jonathan; great nieces Arianna, Jayla, Brianna, Bella, Julie and Orion; and great nephews Jovanni and Adrian.

A memorial service will be held at Thomas M Gallagher Funeral Home( next to the Knights of Columbus) on 453 Shippan Ave. in Stamford, Connecticut (203)-359-9999 on Saturday, August 18, 2018 between 5:00pm-7:00pm. The family will receive extended family and friends at The Wescott club room on 1450 Washington Blvd in Stamford, Connecticut immediately following the memorial service.
