Obituary of Armando Perez Serpa

Armando Perez Serpa Armando P. Serpa, 73, of Norwalk, CT entered eternal rest on July 11, 2018. Born in Havana, Cuba on October 27, 1945, he bravely escaped from Cuba on a raft at the age of eighteen and was found by an American fisherman off the coast of Key West. He always credited the Caridad del Cobre: Patroness of Cuba for overseeing his five day voyage in the Atlantic Ocean from Cuba. He made his way to Stamford, Connecticut where he became a resident and an employee of Pitney Bowes. He had a successful career at Pitney Bowes until his retirement. Mr. Serpa is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maria Serpa, his son Ulysses and his daughter Milagros. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Ava-Marie, Annelise, Leila and Jacob. The family would like to offer sincerest thanks to all his close friends in Stamford and Norwalk for their friendship and care. His hobbies included fishing, playing poker, watching baseball, CNBC and spending time with his closest friends at the Stamford beaches. A wake will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, (next to the Knights of Columbus), 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford (203) 359-9999. Interment to follow at Long Ridge Union Cemetery – Erskine Road - Stamford, CT.
