Obituary of George Greer III

George Greer, 85, of Stamford passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 5, 2018.

Born in Long Island City, NY on August 9, 1932 he was the son of the late George and Margaret Enright Greer.

He was educated in Scarsdale, NY and attended Fordham University.

George was a resident of Shippan Point for 33 years and a founding member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.  He had a successful career as a Connecticut Residential Real Estate Appraiser.

He truly enjoyed the friendships and comraderie he had with fellow members of the State Street Debating Society.  He was a former member of the Stamford Yacht Club, Shenerock Shore Club and Winged Foot Golf Club. 

Mr Greer is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia Hickey Greer, two sons George Edward and his wife Paula and William Patrick and his wife Candace, three daughters Margaret Alice and her husband Peter Guastamachio, Mary Sheila and Maureen Patricia and her husband Dr. Santi Neuberger . He is also survived by seven grandchildren:  Caroline, Patrick, Maxwell, Oliver, Michael, Cole and Robert and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas E. Greer.

The family would like to offer sincerest thanks to the entire staff at Cassena Care of Stamford for their tireless care and compassion.

A wake will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 4pm – 8pm at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home,(next to the Knights of Columbus) 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford (203) 359-9999.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 11am at Our Lady Star Sea Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford. Interment to follow at St John Cemetery, Darien, CT.
