Obituary of Gerald H. Rich

Gerald (Jerry) H. Rich passed away early Tuesday morning of a sudden illness. Jerry Rich was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved spending time with his nine grandchildren, learning about new technologies, attending courses at the adult learning center, and volunteering in the community. Jerry was always offering to help out a friend in need. He was a member of Jewish Historical Society of Fairfield County, the Stamford Senior Men's Club, and IEEE. Jerry graduated the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute with a degree in electrical engineering. After holding several engineering positions in corporations, he in 1969 launched Concord Communications, an audio-visual equipment and supply business in Stamford. He was born in Pelham Parkway, the Bronx on May 15, 1931. He was a Stamford resident since 1962. Jerry was predeceased in 2010 by his wife Marilyn (Greenstein) Rich, with whom he shared a 55 year marriage. He was a devoted father to his daughter and son-in-law, Vivian (Rich) and Bruce Goldberg, of Stamford; his daughter, Sheryl Rich-Kern, of Nashua, New Hampshire; and his son and daughter-in-law, David and Lucy Rich, of Fremont, California. Survivors also include his brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Sunny Rich of Norwalk; and his friend, Harriet Brinen, of Stamford. He leaves behind nine grandchildren: Jacob, Sarah and Alyssa Goldberg; Ben, Will, Alex and Denny Rich; and Daniel and Joshua Kern. He was also an adored uncle to numerous nephews and nieces.
