Obituary of Jules White

JULES WHITE – 84, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Stamford, Connecticut.  He was the beloved father of Deborah and Karen White.  He is also survived by his son-in-law, Thomas Bubser, and grandsons, Travis and Jared.  He was married to his beloved, Anita White, who predeceased Dr. White in 2005.

Born in New York, NY, Dr. White attended The Bronx High School of Science, achieving a Certificate in Merit for Biology, winning the NY Classical Club Award for Latin, and was a member of Arista.  Dr. White graduated from Columbia University, with Honors, and subsequently from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.  During his extensive career he was distinguished in becoming triple board certified in Surgery, Cardio Thoracic Surgery, and Diagnostic Radiology.  

Dr. White served in the United States Medical Corps between 1967-1969, including a tour of duty in the 12thEvacuation Hospital in Cu Chi, Vietnam.  He achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement.   After returning home, he served in the Army Reserve, 1969-1973.

Dr. White practiced cardio thoracic surgery in Dayton, OH for nearly ten years and radiology at New Milford Hospital for twenty years.

Dr. White was a resident of Stamford, CT for more than 50 years.  He was an active member of Congregation Agudath Sholom and a life-long learner with a passion for classical music, military history and languages. Even at 84, he enjoyed an active lifestyle filled with long-distance swimming, alpine skiing, tennis, and long walks.  He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and interests with friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at the Agudath Sholom Synagogue 301 Strawberry Hill Ave Stamford CT on Sunday, May 27that 9:30am.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jules White’s memory to American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee or Vietnam Veterans Of America.  Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas M.
