Obituary of William Chuckas
William Chuckas, born August 11, 1928, died Sunday. William is survived by his devoted wife Tedra of 57 years, his sons Gregory and Andrew, daughter in law Jill and five grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas, Francesca, Christian and Hannah. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, William, better known as Bill, lived internationally during his long distinguished career prior to settling in Stamford, CT in 1972. He was a graduate of St. John’s University. In his early years, Bill worked for AMF as Field Director of Human Resources managing various military contracts across the western U.S. His son Gregory was born in Boise Idaho. The family moved to Switzerland for 3 years to pursue military business for AMF. Upon returning to the United States he went to work for Texaco and was transferred to Libya for 5 years taking care of Middle East Human Resources for Texaco. His 2nd son Andrew was born in Tripoli, Libya. Upon return to the U.S. the family settled in Stamford. He retired as Director of Human Resources Middle East/Far East for Texaco, a job that sent him all over the world. After retirement, he enjoyed participating in local Stamford men’s club, traveling with his wife, as well as spending time with sons and grandchildren, attending all their activities.
Family and friends may call at the Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, (next to the Knights of Columbus) 453 Shippan Ave, Stamford (203)-359-9999 on Monday, March 19, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Rev. Father Evan Evangelidis will have the Trisagion prayer service at 7 pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 20, at 10:00 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Ave, Stamford. Interment will follow at Long Ridge Union Cemetery, 154 Erskine Road.
