Obituary of Goulbourne E King

Goulbourne Ethelbert King, 89, was born on May 20, 1928 to Millicent and Gersman King (both deceased).  Goulbourne was born in St. Michael, Barbados where he met and married his wife Lillian (deceased).  In Barbados Goulbourne and his wife owned their own home and a rental property; they owned and ran a variety shop; ran a taxi service and worked for the bus company over the years.  In 1969 Goulbourne immigrated to Stamford, Connecticut where he worked hard and sent for his family and extended family members.  Goulbourne and his wife owned several rental properties in Stamford. He retired from Pitney Bowes where he worked as a maintenance supervisor for several years and was well respected by his coworkers and peers.  He was the person to whom many other foreigners and immigrants looked to for guidance and support.  In 2009 Goulbourne and Lillian relocated to Covington, Georgia then returned to Connecticut in 2012. 

Goulbourne left behind his daughters: Linda King, Sandra King, Margaret King and Cynthia King-Miller; and sons Bernard Leach, Patrick King and Michael King; 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Goulbourne was predeceased by his wife Lillian, and daughters Lorna Carrington and Ruby Robinson; and his sisters Pearl King, Joyce King, Ruby King, and Marjorie King; and his brother Frank King.

A viewing will be held from 9 am-10 am on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 1231 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, CT. A Funeral service will immediately follow at the church at 10 am. The interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien, CT. The arrangements are under the direction of Thomas M.
