To Mimi, Gabby, Michael and Chris,
Some of my favorite memories include the summers spent at S&S with your family. Your Dad’s laugh and your Moms kindness will always be remembered by me.

Helene and I were colleagues at Marymount Manhattan College for many years. We were both in the Education Dept. where she served as Chairman. I retired in 1994. A few years ago she e-mailed me and we started an e-mail correspondence to catch up on the years. Last year her e-mails suddenly ceased and I tried to contact her. I jthought to look for a possible obituary and found hers from just over a year ago. I am so sorry that we have lost her and Ben also. It was such a joy to work and teach with Helene and I have loved our correspondence over the past few years. She was always such a faithful teacher and friend and loved her family. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for such a wonderful and loyal person. Daphne Fox, Ed.D.

Helene was a member of my painting class at the Rowayton Arts Center.
She was wonderfully open to ideas and her work developed each time she sat down to paint. She was modest but always fearlessly tackled any subject matter. The class will miss her quiet humor. She was very proud of her family.
Please accept my deepest condolences.

Roberta and all the family of Helene: My heartfelt condolences at your loss. Your mother sounds to have been the spirit and role model for you and all whose life she touched. Roberta, may you be comforted by her memory and may it be as a blessing for you, your family and the community which she created around her in all her gestures, efforts and good deeds. Fondly, Linda

Dear Gabby, and The Napolitano family,
My deepest sympathy to you all. Helene was honest, thoughtful, funny, and really didn’t like talking on the phone which always made me laugh, I loved to listen to her stories about the school children because they understood each other so simply. I will miss her friendship and remember the many years of Italian Club dinner dances and the many get togethers with our mutual UST friends.
Sincerely,
Kathy S. Aurichio

MiMi, Michael, Gabby, and Chris,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I can't believe it. I feel so fortunate that I did get to see her at Joe's wake and have a chance to talk to her. She was just as I remembers as a child so lovely graceful warm and caring. My most heartfelt deepest sympathy goes out to all of you.
Love Karen

Please accept my sincere sympathy on Helene’s death. She was a strong and positive force always in the MMC community and,as a pair, Ben and Helene were the classiest dancers at every MMC benefit.
Helene was a student and teacher advocate, who stood up for what she believed. A member of the college faculty for so many years, Helene was an integral part of building the strong MMC that thrives today.

My deepest sympathies to Helene's family and all who love her.
When working at Marymount Manhattan (1980-2010), I did not know Helene personally; she was involved in the college’s degree program, and I in its non-credit or adult education division. As a result, our paths did not cross often. But because MMC is a small college, everyone sort of knew everyone else, either personally or by reputation. And it was obvious to me that Helene’s first priority (and I mean that literally) was to the students - and then to the college.
I, like many others, admired Helene; she was a respected academic - and she was modest and understated – except when it came to her scholarship and students - that’s when she was very serious and, if needed, could be very vocal. Helene's goals were not personal, she strived to ensure excellence in the classroom and her students' success.
Everyone at MMC knew Helene was forthright - and dedicated to providing a top-notch academic experience to all students. She was confident in her ability as a teacher, as Chair of the Education Department – and as a mentor who helped students excel at MMC and after graduation.
Helene was a treasured academic, a professional, and leader in the best sense of the word – and she was a loyal friend to her colleagues and students. Helene epitomized why MMC was and continues to be a special place for learning and personal growth.
