Averell Greif

Averell (Avi) Greif, 60, of Stamford, CT,  passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017. He was born in New York, NY to the late Louis and Ann Greif on July 29, 1957. He spent most of his childhood growing up in Monsey, NY, attending both Elementary School (HIROC) and High school. He was an alumni of the University at Albany, class of 1978. Avi went on to have a successful career in advertising, sales, and marketing. He moved to Stamford in 1987, and was married to his wife Rhonda in 1988. Avi was an enormous asset to the growth of the Stamford Jewish Community over the last few decades. He worked tirelessly as the President of the Young Israel of Stamford, serving two terms. He also was an integral part of the Stamford Kosher Activist Committee (SKAC) helping to bring more Kosher food and restaurants to Stamford. Those who knew Avi, remember him for his kind spirit, big personality, silly nicknames and finding that personal connection with almost everyone he met. Avi was truly larger than life and will be remembered by his family; wife, Rhonda; sons, Matthew, Coby and Jensen; brother, Jules; along with many dear friends and family. Internment was held at Wellwood Cemetery West Babylon, NY.
