~~Gerald Stephen Kopel, passed away on September 3rd, 2017, at the age of 72.  Known affectionately as Jerry, he was the beloved husband of Linda, adored father of Jennifer, Lauryn and Lee, and treasured grandfather of Miranda, Eliana, Noah, Nathan, Gavin and Lexi.  Admired for his devotion to his family by his sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, Peter, Brian and Micky, he was also the favorite brother of Laura Kroeger and Barbara Katz.   Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Hyman and Pearl.  A graduate of Brooklyn College, Jerry was a brilliant mathematician and became a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries.  Jerry proudly served his country in the US Army.  Formerly the Chief Actuary for Aon Benfield, Jerry was widely regarded as an expert in the field of life reinsurance.  In addition to his professional success, Jerry used his mathematical prowess in playing cards, handicapping odds and enjoying watching football, specifically his New York Giants.  Jerry was an avid reader and loved to travel the world with Linda and their many friends, especially his annual trips to Aruba.  Jerry was a gentle soul that was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
