Obituary of Elinor M Byrne

~~Elinor Byrne died Friday, August 11 at Wilton Meadows, Wilton Connecticut.  She was 102 years old.  Born Elinor Curlew in Newburgh New York she was raised in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx New York where she met her husband John Byrne.  They were married for 47 years until his death in 1989.  Throughout her long life she lived in Pittsburgh PA, White Plains NY, Stamford, Ridgefield and Wilton CT. 

Elinor was a force of nature. She loved chocolate, coffee and martinis all of which she claimed were the secret to a long life. She will be missed for her warmth, wit and love of life.

Elinor is survived by her two children, Daniel Byrne of Exeter Rhode Island and his wife Robyn, and a daughter, Marianne Foley of Stamford Connecticut .  She has five grandchildren: Christopher (Mary Kate) and Michael Byrne of Rhode Island and Lauren, Kristen and Samantha Foley all of Stamford Connecticut.  A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Church at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 19.  Interment will follow at St John Cemetery, Darien.  No calling hours will be held.
