Obituary of Ruth Greene Stern

Ruth Greene Stern passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on August 3, 2017.  She was born in Waltham, MA on September 18, 1923.  She was very involved in her community, an active member of Agudath Sholom, Jewish Family Services, UJA, JNF, Bi-Cultural Day School, Bnai Brith and Hadassah. She was an energetic participant in Russian resettlement in the 1970’s and enthusiastic reading mentor in the public school system into her 90’s.  She is predeceased by her parents, Sarah and Benjamin Greene, her husband, Sidney Stern and four siblings.  She is survived by her sister, Miriam Bernstein, and her brother, Leon Greene. She is also survived by her children, Gail Rudolph (Ross) and Martin Stern (Jill), her grandchildren: Jessica Rudolph (Richard), Joshua Rudolph (Chavah) and Charlotte Stern, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She will be sorely missed by her many adoring nieces and nephews, dear friends and devoted caregivers.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Sunday August 6, 2017 at Agudath Sholom Synagogue, 301 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Agudath Sholom Cemetery.   Shiva will be observed at Ruth’s apartment at Edgehill Retirement Community 122 Palmers Hill Rd, Stamford on Sunday following the burial until 5 PM, Monday and Tuesday 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hadassah or a charity of your choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas M.
