Obituary of Vera F. Kane

Vera F. Kane passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the age of 89. Vera was born on 116th Street in New York City on September 25, 1924, to the late Joseph and Sophia (DeVita) Castronova. She moved to Stamford with her children and late husband Anthony in 1965. She was employed for 22 years as a CNA at Courtland Gardens Convalescent Home. She retired in 1986 and spent her time enjoying her children and grandchildren. Vera was known for her devotion to her children, her quick wit and impeccable wardrobe. She loved spending time with her family, swapping stories over dinner and dessert. Vera was predeceased by her four siblings: Angelo Castronova, Teresa Castronova, Catherine Alonge, and Bernadette Weiss. She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Lane and husband Patrick of Fairfield, CT, son Mark Kane and wife Leslie of Stamford, CT, son Damian Kane and partner Len Horey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and son Michael Kane and wife Deborah of Deerfield Beach, FL. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive family and friends at Shippan's Thomas Gallagher Funeral Home,( same building as Bosak ) 453 Shippan Ave, Stamford, CT ( 203) 359-9999 on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 11 AM until 1 PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 12:30 PM . Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park.
