Obituary of Maria Quinones

On Sunday July 30,2017, Maria Quinones passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital. Her children, Joseph  and Barbara Quinones; and Carmen and Salvatore Longo were at her side. Maria was 94 years old, born in Puerto Rico on May 11, 1923. Maria married her husband Jose Quinones while in Puerto Rico, and they moved with their children Carmen and Joseph to New York in 1948. Jose predeceased Maria on May 18, 1978.

Maria is survived by her children Joseph and Barbara Quinones; Carmen and Salvatore Longo. There are also her grandchildren Evan and Tiffany Quinones, Adam and Adrianne Quinones, Salvatore and Carrie Longo, and Anthony and Jody Longo; Joseph Longo predeceased her on August 11, 2015. Maria's great grandchildren are Santino Longo, Marcello Longo, Alexandra Longo, Ana Longo, Amanda Redfern, Adam Quinones Jr., Gabriel Quinones, and Kevin Lewis.

Maria was a professional seamstress who worked directly with her designer. Jose was a professional chrome plater. This enabled them to fulfill their dreams and purchase their first new family home in Queens, NY. This is where they lived, and remains the family homestead. Due to health reasons Maria moved to Greenwich in August of 2013. 

Maria dedicated her life to God, her children, her husband, and subsequently her grandchildren. Her love and passion for others had a lasting effect on all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her. Maria has passed her legacy on to us all, and her spirit will live on in our hearts and minds until we are once again reunited.

Calling hours will be held from 3-7 PM on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Thomas M Gallagher Funeral Home ( next to the Knights of Columbus) 453 Shippan Ave Stamford (203) 359-9999. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday August 4, 2017 at St Catherine of Siena Church 4 Riverside Avenue Riverside, CT.
