Obituary of Joan F Whiteley

Joan Rita Farrell Whiteley
 
 Joan F. Whiteley, a longtime Stamford resident, died on May 9, 2017. She was 85.
 Joan was born June 2, 1931 in New Britain, CT.  She was the daughter of the late James and Mary McIntyre Farrell. She was a loving wife and mother.
 She lived in Stamford for 54 years. Joan worked in the Stamford Public Schools for 44 years.
 She was a communicant of St. Leo’s Roman Catholic Church in Stamford.
 Joan is survived by three sons Harry W. (Laurie) Whiteley of Fairfield, James R. (Rebecca) Whiteley of Norwalk, and Jeffrey M. Whiteley of Norwalk; a daughter Sandra Whiteley (Scott) Saalborn of New Fairfield; 10 grandchildren Elizabeth W. (John Monaghan III), Alexandra W. (Branden Shane), Harry Whiteley III, Sarah W. (Benjamin Lane), Michael Whiteley, Jameson Whiteley, Timothy Whiteley (Katelyn LaTorra), Alexander Saalborn, Luke Saalborn, and Samantha Saalborn; a sister Norma McCarthy.
 She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry W. Whiteley Sr.; two sisters Dorothy Bergeson and Elizabeth Rinaldi; two brothers Donald Farrell and Richard Farrell. 
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00a.m, Monday, May 15, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield, CT. with a private burial to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. There will be no calling hours. Donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home.
