Obituary of Andrew Fredrick Wriedt

Andrew F. Wriedt, 83, formerly of Harrington Park New Jersey, passed away on February 14, 2014 at his home in Easton Connecticut with his family by his side. He was born July 6, 1930 in Ridgefield Park NJ. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna M. Wriedt, and his daughter Joann M. Bujdud. He is survived by his son in law Christian W. Bujdud and his two grandchildren, Christian Andrew Bujdud and Grace Catherine Bujdud. He was a 1948 graduate of Dumont High School . He was a member of the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and served in the Korean War in 1952. After leaving the Army he completed his bricklayers apprenticeship and became a member of the Bricklayer and Masons Union. Andrew met his wife Anna in 1955 and after a brief courtship they were married on November 5, 1955. In 1957 they moved to Harrington Park New Jersey where he built their home. They lived there and raised their family until January 2013 when they relocated to Easton CT to be closer to their daughter and family. Andrew served as an active member of the Harrington Park Lions Club for many years. He was an avid history buff. Andrew was a collector many things, decoy ducks, vintage postcards, rare shells, and war memorabilia. He enjoyed sharing these collections and the stories about them with his grandchildren. Andrew was a dedicated Giants fan and for years could be found, along with his friends, in their seats at Giants Stadium. Andrew will be remembered as a kind, generous man who put needs of others in front of his own and was always looking for a way to help out. He was a friend to many and always enjoyed a good laugh and a good conversation. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
