Obituary of Irvin D. Hutnik

Stamford, Conn Irvin David Hutnik (Irv), a Stamford resident since 1965, died at Stamford Hospital on Thursday, August 29, 2013. He was born in Mt Vernon, New York on November 18, 1934, the son of the late Hyman and Anita Hutnik. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Shumofsky Hutnik, and two children, Stephen and wife Robin, Joselyn Pines and husband Jay, and his six grandchildren, Daniel, Robert, Andrew, Lauren, Jennifer and Gabrielle who brought abundant love and joy into his life. He was a graduate of A. B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon, and Mondell Institute of Technology. After serving in the U.S. Army for two years, he was honorably discharged in 1959. He worked for over forty years at a variety of local engineering firms including Electrolux, ACMI, Consolidated Diesel and Homelite as a mechanical and electrical draftsman. His many hobbies included gardening, walking, and volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America from which he received the Order of the Arrow. Additionally, he loved to travel and enjoyed videotaping the sights from the 27 world capitals he had visited. He was a former member of the Agudath Sholom choir as well as a twenty-five year participant in the 6:30 a.m minyan. He will be missed by all that knew him. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m on Monday, September 2, 2013 at the Bosak Funeral Home 453 Shippan Avenue Stamford CT 06902.
