Obituary of Antonietta Legierse

Antonietta Legierse, 76, wife of Jacobus Legierse and daughter of the late Amelia Cagna Pagliarulo and Francesco Pagliarulo, of Italy, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital, Monday, January 6, 2014. In addition to her husband of 45 years, she is also survived by her son George "Goose" Legierse and his wife Lori Longo Legierse, of Stamford, 2 sisters Manuela Pagliarulo and Alida Fattebene and her husband Elio, all of Italy, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Antonietta was born on February 12, 1937, in Bovino, Italy, where she was raised and worked as a seamstress until 1966, when she moved to Stamford, Connecticut. She worked most of her years as a cook at Walter Stewarts Market in New Canaan until she retired in 2005. As well as being remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and a great friend, she also loved gardening and preparing homemade Italian meals for all who visited. A Mass of Christian Burial for family and friends will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 10:30am. Burial will be private; there will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Shippan's Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford.
