Obituary of Rita Katcher

It is with great sadness that the family of Rita Katcher announce her passing, peacefully, on October 1,2023, while residing at Brighton Gardens, Stamford, CT.  Born on December 6,1930 in the Bronx, New York, Rita was the daughter of the late Sidney & Mary King.

Rita was married to Leonard (Lenny) Katcher for 44 years and spent most of those years living in North Babylon, NY, where they raised their 4 children. They enjoyed many social activities with friends, especially square and round dancing. Lenny was a Sheet metal Mechanic and worked in NYC while Rita was the office manager for Weight Watchers Long Island.  Once they retired, they moved to Port St Lucie, FL in 1990. They made many friends, keeping very active and enjoying their retirement.  Sadly, Lenny passed in 1994. With the support of their many old and new friends, Rita got involved in many new community activities and continued to enjoy spending time with her friends.  In 2018, Rita moved to Connecticut to be closer to family due to her health issues.  She loved being able to see her family more often & celebrate birthdays & holidays together.

She is survived by her children Mitchell (Anne), Amy (Jim) & Gary, her brother Ira & her 3 grandchildren, Michael, Olivia and Colten as well as her three great grandchildren, Jonah, Ava & Eli.

Rita will be laid to rest on October 3rd,2023 at Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, NY.
