Obituary of Marilyn Josephine Campillo

Marilyn Josephine Campillo, age 90, passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home in Stamford, CT on July 28, 2023. She was born November 15, 1932, in San Francisco, California to Joseph and Lorretta DeLucchi. Charles “Charlie” CampilloMarilyn’s adoring husband of 56 years, preceded her in death. Marilyn was predeceased by her siblings.

Marilyn graduated from Mercy High School in 1950 and completed her training to be a Registered Nurse in 1953. In pursuing her nursing career, Marilyn treasured the opportunity to care for newborns at St. Mary’s Hospital. Also in 1953, Marilyn and Charlie were married in San Francisco, CA. They remained inseparable from that day forward and for their last 40 years together, they divided their time between Kaua’i, HI and Stamford, CT. Marilyn, a devout Catholic, truly lived life to the fullest. She was a fabulous cook, inspiring many family members, an accomplished quilter, and an avid football fan. She also had a vigorous interest in politics and current events. A fun memory her children have of their mom was her as a heavy-hitting catcher for the Pacifica Bombers. Her community was blessed with many years of her volunteer work at Holy Spirit Church, Hospice of Stamford, Stamford Meals on Wheels, and as a talented quilter for the Stamford Museum.

Family came first and was above all else to Marilyn, a value she instilled in her four children and 13 Grandchildren. Her 23 cherished great-grandchildren will continue to be blessed by Marilyn’s example of love and kindness. Many nieces, nephews, and friends will miss Marilyn’s endearing smile.

Marilyn is survived by her children: John (Patti) Campillo, Marie née Campillo (Bob) Barker, Matthew (Melanie) Campillo, and David (Kelly) Campillo. Her grandchildren are: Jason (Janna) Campillo, Jesse (Marisol) Campillo, Zachary (Sarah) Campillo, Charles (Lindsay) Barker, Sean (Sarah) Campillo, Sarah née Campillo (Jake) Jakubek, Charles (Courtney) Campillo, Cathleen née Barker (Dave) Maucere, Luke (Bri) Campillo, Samuel (Amanda) Campillo, Joseph (America) Campillo, Sophia Campillo, and Clare Campillo.

Marilyn requested a private, family service. If you would like to make a donation in Marilyn’s name, she was passionate about the following organizations: EWTN Television Network and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
