Obituary of Lawrence Whitman

Lawrence J Whitman, resident of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 14, 2023 at the age of 66 surrounded by his close family.

Lawrence is survived by his daughter Ashley Whitman and her wife Heather Bryant, his daughter Jessica Whitman, his mother, Anna M Whitman, his brother Frank Whitman, and his former spouse Debra Gordon. He is predeceased by his brother Robert J Whitman Jr., his father Robert Whitman Sr., and his grandparents.

Anyone who knew ‘Larry’, as he was affectionately known by, knows he would instantly light up a room with his infectious personality and booming voice.

His main loves in life were his two daughters Ashley and Jessica, who will miss him immensely. He always loved playing games and spending holidays with them. He also spent a lot of time with his brothers Frank and Bobby, and his close cousins whom he loved dearly.

His other main love was singing. He could always belt out a solid tune; whether it was singing in his church, or with his former band mates. He also took his karaoke very seriously, and could be found singing at a bar or club on any given weeknight. He also performed many a duet with his loving mom Annie Guitar. He adored his karaoke family as well.

Larry’s family will host a memorial service on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home at 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT.

There will be a private burial. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, a donation to The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
