Obituary of Robert V. Somody Sr.

Robert “Bob” Vincent Somody, Sr., 83 of Somers, New York, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023. Robert was born January 23, 1940 in Stamford to John and Elizabeth Somody. He was predeceased in death by his parents and brother John Somody. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lois (Connelly) Somody, and their four children Robert V Somody, Jr (Michele) of Stamford, Connecticut, Michelle Luciano (Robert) of Easton, Pennsylvania, Janice Duggan (Michael) of Davidson, North Carolina, and Sharon Dill (Michael) of Charleston, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren Cassidy Luciano, Jordan Luciano (Ricardo), Jackson Dill, Morgan Dill, Faith Somody, Maddie Duggan, Brian Somody, Sean Duggan, Sydney Luciano, and Charlotte Duggan; and one great-grandchild Leila Luciano. He is also survived by his brother Emery Somody of Riverside, California.

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Stamford High School and served in the United States Army (1958-1964). Bob then had a 50 year career as an insurance adjustor and restoration. 

Bob loved his family and was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He was known as Pop-Pop. He loved playing cards with his friends. Bob was an avid golfer with three hole-in-ones. He belonged to the Sterling Farms Men’s Club and was a member of Tamarack Country Club. He traveled the world sharing that passion for golf with his wife Lois. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023 at The Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT, (203)-359-9999. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, at St. Joseph’s Church 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY 10559.
