I met Dick in the early 1970s when I was 23 years old and the inexperienced advertising manager for Kastle skis. He would stop by our offices to tell stories and sell ad space. He always listed to me, was respectful and made me feel special. At trade shows, he would treat me like a friend, invite me to the Skiing VIP lunches at the Hilton and introduce me to my heroes. When I think back, I realize that he was an important part of making me feel like I belonged in a business that I always wanted to be part of. Thanks Dick.

Dick became a great friend over the years. I last spoke to him a few weeks ago. He always remembered your family, your business and your friends, "Looking for a job?" He was the tom tom communicator of the ski business.
This email was in my spam box and only discovered when organizing email. I hope others did not miss it.
Dick was a great guy. I am sad and I will miss him.

My deepest condolences to the family of Dick Cutler on his passing. He will be sorely missed with his "Cutler here" and he never missed wishing me a Happy Birthday on New Year's day or evening since he knew I would hear from him definitely. I will miss him greatly as we all will, since he was a unique person and friend to all. I am very, very sad to hear the news but he lived a good life that was well deserved and he shared his happiness with all of us. May he rest in peace.

What a wonderful gentleman. I would run into him at different snow sports shows and I HAD to stop to talk with Dick. He wasn’t selling and I wasn’t buying but we would have a great conversation. Seeing him would put a smile on my face.I wish there were more Dick Cutlers in the world. Wilbur Rice

Dick Cutler was a wonderful human. In the 10+ years I worked with him at Warren Miller, he never missed a call for a kids birthday. He continued that tradition for the next 20 years. I was actually expecting his call next week for my daughters 22nd birthday, with his trademark "Cutler here..."
I remember the first time I had lunch with him in Hermosa Beach in 1992. Being from the East Coast and going to a Southern California Mexican restaurant, he proudly ordered the Taaay-co's. I died laughing, and for the next 10 years tried to teach him how to say Taco. Didn't work.
I will miss Dick Cutler immensely.

Dick Cutler was one in a million!! We kept in touch from the early 1970's when we had a ski business in Ketchum, Idaho, until just last year. Dick was such a vibrant human being, sharp as a tac all these years, and an amazing friend. We would exchange Christmas cards, and he would call me every year on my birthday so we could chat and catch up. I was 20 years younger than Dick but he was such a wonderful role model and really cared about how life was going for you. The ski business was our starting point for a lifetime long distance friendship. One of my fondest memories was when he flew into Seattle to continue on to spend time with Warren Miller. He stopped here and we spent one day sightseeing because he wanted to see Snoqualmie Falls. It was a perfect day for the drive, conversation, and seeing the falls. I will dearly miss his calls that always started with, "Cutler here!" I watched his children grow up in photos at Christmas. Are any of his children as tall as their father now? *chuckle* Wishing Dick's family peace at this difficult time. Dick was a true inspiration and will always hold a special place in my heart.
