Obituary of Cleora Anne Garst
Cleora (‘Cleo’) Anne Garst 93, formerly of Stamford, CT., beloved wife of Raymond H. Garst, died peacefully at Wilton meadows in Wilton Ct. She will be missed by all.
She was born on September 19th, 1929 to Walter Griffin and Marie Antoinette Griffin in Westwego, LA. She was one of seven children (Vivian, Arthur, Walter, Pete, Mable, and Delphine).
She moved to New York City to become a beautician, where she met the love of her life, Raymond Garst, at the Roseland Ballroom. They married soon after and had two children, Lynn and Raymond.
Cleo was a passionate ballroom dancer, and enjoyed painting in her spare time.
She is survived by her children, Raymond Garst (Patty) and Lynn Ridberg, as well as her grandchildren, Jacqueline Ridberg Larabee (Drew), Dylan Garst, Shelagh Garst, and Deana Garst; her godchild Linda Boudreaux.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Wilton Commons, Wilton Meadows and Ridgefield Hospice Care for supporting Cleo through her final journey.
The family will receive friends at The Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home (104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford, CT 203-359-999) on Monday January 16, 2023 from 5-7pm.
