Obituary of Joan Nelson

Joan (Harrison) Nelson, 88, of Stamford, CT, passed away with family at her side, on 12/30/22.

Joan was born at home in Bronx, NY, on 2/15/34 to William Harrison and Anna (Quinn) Harrison. She married her long-time childhood friend, Louis Nelson, in 1963. They had one son, David, in 1971.

After graduating from Katharine Gibbs College, Joan went on to work as a legal secretary for many years, taking time off to raise her son, returning to work, and retiring in her late 70's.

Joan was well-known for her baking - especially her amazing cakes. They were a highlight at every family gathering. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sitting in the sun at the beach, reading, tennis, and fine dining with her husband, Lou.

Joan is predeceased by her husband (Louis), brothers (William and Robert), and parents (William and Anna). She leaves behind her son David (spouse Rachel), beloved grandson (Spencer), sisters (Anna, Violet, and Elizabeth), and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Kensico Cemetery on Saturday, January 7th, at 10:30am.
