Our deepest sympathies to our cousins Julie, Marie, Tommy & Kieran, Uncle Jim, Uncle Frank, extended family and friends on the very sad passing of our dear Auntie Maura. Thinking of you all at this time of great sorrow.
What an admirable lady she was. What a legend! And what a legacy she has left behind. Always full of support and advice. Always ready with a smile and a gentle nod in the right direction. Always an Irish twinkle in her eye and Galway to her core.
Thank you Auntie Maura for all the wonderful memories. Reunited once again with your beloved Jack and all who have gone before you. Rest in Heavenly peace Maura in the arms of Jesus - your work here on earth is done. The lights may have dimmed in Millpark (Claran) but there must be fireworks in Heaven!
"If you ever go across the sea to Ireland
Then maybe at the closing of the day
You can sit and watch the moon rise over Claddagh
And see the sun go down on Galway Bay"
Fondly remembered, forever in our hearts. xxx

Oh, sorry to hear. From my childhood, I always appreciated Mary’s personal interest and infusions from her quiet, unbreakable strength. Even decades later, when I was already feeling like an old-timer at Oireachtas awards ceremonies, bowled-over by the untamed exuberance of so many young people - sure enough, wouldn’t I see Mary walk slowly and determinedly through the noisy crowd and find a seat. A whole generation older and still interested! “Buck up, young lad”, she had said without ever talking.
I always enjoyed the chats we had wherever our paths crossed. The years would melt away & Julie & Kiernan & I would again be kids learning the same “baby jig” in the same Irish Dance school, being raised in adjoining parishes, and sharing some of the same sleigh-riding hills.
R.I,P., Mary. A long life, but still a big loss. Condolences to the whole family.
p.s. I’m extremely sorry I can’t make the wake or funeral. I have covid right now and will still be in isolation.

Julie was my irish dance teacher for over 10 years and Mrs. O’Connell would be at almost all of our practices offering her expertise. I would not have been the irish dancer I was without her! She’ll be forever in my heart.

Dave and I are so sorry for the loss of your Mom. The few times I met Mrs. O'Connell, I was struck by her intelligence and caring. I really enjoyed our discussions on the current state of Nursing with "new" trends and ideas she had. She was a remarkably insightful nurse and would have made a wonderful Nursing instructor. She was also gifted as a chooser of wonderful prime ribs, with Marie cooking them equally as wonderfully! Mrs. O'Connell was a very special lady and a one of a kind human being. She will be missed.

Sincere Sympathy to our cousins Tommy, Kieran, Marie & Julie & all the extended O'Connell & Walsh families on the sad loss of your Adored Mom. Deepest Sympathy to Uncle Jim & Uncle Frank on the loss of your Dearest Sister. We send you our heartfelt thoughts & prayers during this difficult time.
We have fond & cherished memories of Auntie Maura's frequent visits to Ireland. Your Mom and Dad were the first guests to stay at my Dad's house in Kinlough & they felt at home here. There were many late night chats & laughter around the kitchen tables of her siblings recalling with delight, wonderful memories & stories from growing up in Millpark (Claran) & from years gone by. She was a stylish lady who was always well presented, loved her Irish soda bread & a china tea set. Being the eldest of the family, Maura was a leader, a Mammy to all her siblings. She had a kind & caring nature & was a great woman to organise a project, event or a family photo opportunity. Auntie Maura was an intelligent woman and a definite force to be reckoned with. She loved her family & spoke lovingly of her children & grandchildren & her pride shone through.
Rest in Heavenly Peace Auntie Maura. You are now Reunited with your Beloved Husband Jack & Adored Siblings Nora, Patsy, Tom, Martin, Brid & John Joe & granddaughter Tierney. You will be always remembered & Forever in our Hearts.
Love, Patsy & Maryann Walsh & Colm Franks. xxx

Dearest family of our Mom’s best friend…
MAURA O’CONNELL☘️
Though we grieve and will miss her here -Maura is so filled with joy to be with her Savior, beloved Jack, parents and siblings and friends.
Our parents- Mary Spratt Daly and her beloved Johnny had many a grand time with Maura and Jack and the Irish gang at the Hibernian Hall. They probably met her at the Pearly Gates and started planning a Feis or a dance in heaven!
Maura was the sort of no- nonsense woman who could take anything in hand and manage it beautifully. She also was a marvelous nurse- took care of our Dad when he was in the hospital- threw us all out till she reorganized the room and got him situated. Then.after a few words with the Dr, got him on more appropriate meds- fearless!
Maura was a great gift to all what knew her- personally or professionally. Even as she aged she remained her sweetest self- God is so good. We thank Him for her and will never forget her.
All the best,
Maureen Daly Schug and Susan Daly Gustafson
