Obituary of Aida Esther Barros

Loving mother and grandmother, Aida Barros, 84, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2022, in Wilton, CT.  The daughter of the late John and Maria (Elias) Velez, she was born in the Bronx on August 18, 1938.  She was a one-of-a-kind, sassy personality that loved music, dancing, traveling and get togethers with family and friends.

Aida was a clerical supervisor in the psychiatry department of Lincoln Hospital for many years until retirement.  She then went on to hold part time jobs with various medical offices in Stamford as well as being a sales associate at Lord & Taylor, a bank teller at New Alliance Bank and volunteering at the Stamford Senior Center.

Aida is survived by her daughter, Laura Spanakos and her husband Peter, her son Sebastian Barros, and the brightest stars of her life, her grandsons Jonathan and Jaden Spanakos.  She is also survived by her sister Nancy Calderon of Stroudsburg, PA as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Sunday, October 23, 2022, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT(203)-359-9999.

In honor of a woman who never said no to a party and enjoyed a very colorful wardrobe, please bring smiles and wear something bright or cheerful or simply add a pop of color.  If anyone would like to say a few fun words about Aida, that would also be lovely and appreciated.
