Imogene Dawkins

Imogene Dawkins, 82, passed away at home on July 1, 2022 surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born in St. Ann, Jamaica and migrated to Stamford, CT in 1990. Imogene was born on March 10, 1940 to parents Maybel Campbell and Rufus Lawrence. She was the eldest daughter of her nine siblings. She married Dextor Llyod Dawkins in 1960 and she remained a devoted wife for 61 years. Together they raised seven children: Dennis (predeceased), Morvin, Lewin, Marvia, Wayne, Avel, and Dorothea. Along with her seven children, she also raised numerous nieces and nephews who considered her a mother-figure. She was the proud grandmother of 15 grand and 5 great-grandchildren. 

All of her life, she was a devoted Christian, an advisor, a counselor, a true friend, and she will be missed by all. May her soul rest in eternal peace. 

A memorial service and visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 4-7 pm at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave, Stamford, CT 06905.  The Interment will be held in Jamaica.
