Obituary of Douglas M. Comrie

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Douglas Comrie who passed away Sunday May 1, 2022 at Stamford Hospital.

 

Doug was living in Stamford at the time of his death, but was born October 27, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY.  He lived as a young child in Enfield, CT then Wilton, CT where he graduated from Wilton High School. Doug pursued a career in the accounting field and devoted many hours volunteering in various places over the years. He was also in the US ARMY Reserves for six years. 

 

He is survived by his dear wife and friend Phyllis Comrie, siblings Bonnie Dyer, Marion Covell, brother-in-law Bill Dyer.. Nieces and nephews Dave Dyer, Scott Dyer, Rob Dyer, Holly Covell Steele, Mark Covell, stepson Marc Moorash and several cousins.

 

He is predeceased by his parents Donald M. Comrie and Florence M. Keppelman Comrie.

 

Doug was passionate about helping others.  On a daily basis he found the strength to overcome his own challenges and in doing so, inspired countless others to follow a path that leads to your best self.

 

Doug met life and all people with a glorious smile, a contagious sense of humor, a loving and kind nature and a sensitivity of all God can provide us in this world.

 

He will be remembered lovingly for the rest of our days.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 2:00 PM at Union Memorial Church in Stamford.
