Obituary of Yitshal Powers

Yitshal Ysrael Moses Powers, 59, of Stamford, CT, passed away, Thursday, February 3, 2022.  He was born in St. Mary’s County, Maryland on October 3, 1962, the son of William Aloysius Brown and Lillian Marie Clinton.

He is survived by his daughter Abigail Whitney Powers.

He graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He went on to take graduate courses at Penn State University and studied Construction Management.

He was an Negotiant at Law and the Founder and Managing Principal of Powers Shapiro and Stein. He established the Negotiant Board of Ethical Standards (NBES) and strived to increase public and professional awareness in this field.

He was involved in multiple practice areas including domestic and international affairs and corporate business. He worked to present an international presence in his efforts to mediate conflict and created meaningful change. 

He had a love of knowledge and was continually working to improve his language skills as well.

He loved sports such as swimming, running, biking, and boxing.  He played rugby and football when he was younger.  At one point, he tried out for the New York Giants football team.

He was a very smooth dancer and loved jazz and oldies music from the 60’s and 70’s. He was very sober minded yet had a playful spirit.He had a distinct fashion style and dressed to express.

He was very committed to his Jewish faith. He was a principled man. His word was his bond. He loved to help others and was a fiercely loyal friend.

There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, February 20th at 10 a.m. at Kensett Memorial Cemetery in Darien, CT.  

Access to the cemetery is a gravel road which is adjacent to 50 Kensett Lane.  Please park in the first field you enter.  Then take a short walk to the back of the cemetery.
