Obituary of Edwin "Ed" Iacovo

“Iac”, “Skippy” to family died in Stamford on Friday January 14, 2022, with his niece Jennifer and great nephew Michael by his side.  Iac was a 62-year member of Belltown Fire Department, joining May 1958.  The firehouse was his home away from home, he was dedicated and loyal up until his death.  Iac was a retired Board of Recreation Supervisor for the City of Stamford, teacher and member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus, and Glenbrook Athletic Club.   He is survived by his sister Kathleen I Friend (Tom), their children Jennifer Bernardelli (Tony), her son Michael, Tom Friend Jr, his brother, Daniel Iacovo (Ruth) of Milford CT and their children, Robin Fox (Adam), Lauren Ricciardi (Nick), Jamie Rose Drozdowski (Ed) and their children.  He was pre-deceased by his parents Edwin Iacovo and Mildred (O’Meara).

A funeral mass at St. John’s Basilica will be held January 22, 2022, at 10AM.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Belltown Fire House.  The family requests masks be worn, and social distancing practiced.  Parking for St. John’s Basilica can be found at the Bell Street Garage, parking is free on the garage roof level C-6 (elevator is available).  Parking on all other levels is $1.00 per hour.
